The sculpture of the reclining girl is designed for the high wall around the terrace near the lake and is part of a series of large sculptures of resting people located in various places in the beautiful Dutch landscape. The sculptures fit into a long tradition of reclining figures in the history of art, but they represent people of our own time. With graceful lines cut out of solid steel, the reclining girl seem to be drawn in space, clearly defined against the sky. Although the figures are completely cut out of a flat surface, they suggest a three dimensionality, which is emphasized by the ever-changing background of the moving clouds behind the sculpture.
