The monumental sculpture Open-Up, located in the city park of Zwolle, “consists of a massive, vertical plate of stainless steel with a 7-meter-high human figure cut out of it. The artwork is stands out against the background and the excised human figure is filled with the colors of the ever-changing sky behind the sculpture.
In good weather, the human figure is formed by the deep blue of the clear sky and in the evening the cut out figure glows red with the setting sun. The figure that has been cut out of the vertical plate is folded down horizontally, so that one can sit on it.
Centrally situated in the residential area of Zwolle, the public artwork Open-up functions as a meeting place and represents the relationship between man and his environment.
